The Southern Continent of the homeworld was the setting for most of the Books of the South, as well as some of the events of The Silver Spike and many of the events of the Books of Glittering Stone. Its northern boundary is the Sea of Torments, above which lies the Northern Continent.

- the shaggy hills
- the Savannah of K'Hlata
- the massive jungle of D'loc Aloc from which the Hyclades River and Bigotes River originate
- the lengthy great river and its First, Second, and Third Cataracts
- the Main river and its 4 fords: Theri, Numa, Ghoja, and Vehdna-Bota
- the Grove of Doom
- the Dandha Presh mountain range and its pass, the Plain of Charandaprash
- the Shindai Kus desert
Cities and civilizations
Starting in the north and heading south, significant cities and settlements of the southern continent include:
- Beryl, the oldest of the Jewel Cities on the far northern coast
- Rebosa
- Padora
- the Temple of Travellers' Repose
- Gea-Xle, home of the Nar
- Thresh
- Cho'n Delor, an ancient haunted ruin
- the Triplet Cities
- Idon
- Taglios, possibly the largest city in the homeworld, located north of the Grove of Doom
Continuing south, the cities below were all once part of the Shadowlands:
- Dejagore, also called "Jaicur", a major city south of the Grove
- Tragevec, another major city, called "Shadowlight" when it was part of the Shadowlands, near the most populous and prosperous region of the Shadowlands
- New Dhar, had been simply "Dar" before being leveled and rebuilt by the Shadowmasters, a noteworthy city somewhere south of Dejagore and north of Kiaulune
- Fred, a noteworthy city somewhere south of Dejagore and north of Kiaulune
- Six, a noteworthy city somewhere south of Dejagore and north of Kiaulune
- Pityus, the very first place to be conquered by the Shadowmasters
- Kiaulune, a massive, ancient city, called "Shadowcatch" when it was part of the Shadowlands, deep in the southernmost region
- the prehistoric and mysterious structure called the shadowgate
