Smeds Stahl was one of the four thieves who stole the silver spike from the Sapling in the Barrowland during The Silver Spike.
The Silver Spike[]
Smeds observed Toadkiller Dog dig up the hideous, still-living head of the Limper near the carcass of the dragon that had been killed during the Battle of the Barrowland. He pocketed an old fetish, unintentionally but fortuitously alerting both Bomanz and Raven that evil was stirring in the Barrowland. He would later kill three of the four rival spike hunters who murdered Timmy Locan, and, would also kill Brother Bear Torque, one of Darling's loyal followers.
