Cornello Crat was a sworn brother of the Black Company. He was present in Aloe during the events of "Tides Elba".

Because they could read the local language, Crat, Ladora Ans, and the Third were ordered to assist in the search for information regarding Tides Elba in the Aloen public records building.
Both Crat and Ans were persuaded by One-Eye to accompany him on an unsanctioned raid of the Temple of Occupoa (ostensibly to kidnap Tides Elba, but primarily to rob the place). Croaker was notified about this by the Third. He confronted One-Eye and convinced Crat and Ans to withdraw their support for his greedy plan. Without their support, One-Eye angrily relented. It would later come to light that One-Eye was effectively being mind-controlled by the Limper, who was trying to draw them all into a lethal trap. Croaker's insistence saved their lives.
